Ethical Business Pledge

The Ethical Business Pledge is the brainchild of Shel Horowitz, author of Principled Profits: Marketing that Puts People First who has built a whole business around marketing in an ethical way.

He was sickened by the disclosures coming out of the Enron and other scandals and resolved to do something about it.

His plan?

Enlist 25,000 people to sign a pledge to conduct their business in an ethical manner and spread the word.

By doing so, he hopes to change the business climate so that future Enrons become unacceptable and less likely to occur.

I share his hope.

Whether or not he succeeds, I think the Ethical Business Pledge is a great idea. And so...

Faces & Fortunes has signed on.

Signing the Ethical Business Pledge was an easy decision.

After all, our policy has always been to treat our clients and colleagues with respect. And to provide our clients with quality.

This is something I believe in strongly.

We try to implement this in large and small ways. Some examples:

• Returning phone calls in 24 hours or less (subject to our business hours).

• Screening our artists and readers and only providing top quality professionals to your event.

• Continuously working to maintain and upgrade our skills through practice and education.

The Ethical Business Pledge is below.

"I pledge allegiance, in my heart and soul, to the concepts of honesty, integrity, and quality in business. I recognize that the cornerstone of success is treating all stakeholders fairly, with compassion, and with a commitment to service. Working from abundance, I recognize that even my competitors can become important allies. I will not tolerate crooked practices in my business, from co-workers, direct or indirect reports, supervisors, managers, suppliers, or anyone else—and if I encounter such practices, I will refuse to go along with them and report them to appropriate authorities within and outside the company. I pledge to support the "triple bottom line" of environmental, social, and financial responsibility. And I pledge to participate in a serious effort to focus the business community on these principles, by sharing this message with at least 100 other business leaders."
